Highway Division

In maintaining Town property, the Highway Division's responsibilities are the following:

 

  • Repairing town roads
  • Sweeping roads and town-owned properties
  • Winter emergencies/snow and ice control
  • Maintaining storm drains, culverts, and emergencies related to storm water runoffs from the property
  • White goods collection
  • Yard waste/leaf debris pickup
  • Weed spraying
  • Vegetation cutting on town owned properties
  • Litter control
  • Cleaning catch basins
  • Traffic control (stop signs, no parking signs, etc.)

The Highway Division also assists other departments and agencies, i.e. Police, Fire and School Department.

YARD WASTE

Residents will have their yard waste collected twice a month.  The collection will always be within that week(with the exception of Holidays).  

If your trash collection is on a  Monday,Tuesday or Wednesday, your yard waste collection will be on the 1st and 3rd week of every month. There are a few exceptions please see list attached to Yard Waste for your street or call DPW 401-822-9226 for your weeks.

If your trash collection is  on a Thursday or a Friday, your yard waste collection will be on the 2nd and 4th week of every month. There are a few exceptions please see list attached to Yard Waste for your street or call DPW 401-822-9226 for your weeks.
