ESTABLISHMENT OF A FIREFIGHTER ELIGIBILITY NEW LIST 2025

The Town of West Warwick Fire Department will begin accepting applications for its’

FIREFIGHTER ELIGIBILITY LIST

beginning May 19, 2025 – June 19, 2025.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Individuals wishing to apply for the eligibility list must successfully meet ALL the following requirements at the time of application:

   • U. S. Citizen, conversant in English;
   • 18 years of age at the time of application;
   • Must present a High School Diploma or G.E.D. Equivalency;
   • Must present documentation that you are certified as an Emergency Medical Technician
     Cardiac (EMTC) or are currently enrolled in an EMT Cardiac certification course;
         *Applicants must have a valid Rhode Island EMT-C license at time of hire and must agree to maintain certification as a condition of employment;
   • Physical Performance Assessment (PPA) certification, no more than one (1) year old; administered by the Rhode Island Association of Fire Chiefs. Follow link for further information; https://rifirechiefs.com/ppa-info/ 

Additional requirements:

New to the eligibility process is the requirement to submit a Firefighter Entry Level Exam Certificate administered by the Rhode Island Association of Fire Chiefs.

NOTE:

Applications will be accepted beginning May 19, 2025 through June 19, 2025.

*A swim test will be given to the top qualifying applicants.

Upon being considered for employment you will be required to pass a BCI check and a physical examination by a town appointed physician.

POLICE DISPATCHERS

WEST WARWICK POLICE DEPARTMENT

   The Town of West Warwick is accepting applications for employment as a Police Dispatcher. Individuals who wish to be considered for employment by the Town of West Warwick as a Police Dispatcher must successfully pass the following:

•  written test,

•  oral interview,

•  psychological test,

•  thorough background check and

•  medical screening. 

   Applicants must possess a high school diploma or GED and be of good moral character. The complete job description (& application) is provided below.

   Applications are also available in the lobby at the West Warwick Town Hall, 1170 Main Street, West Warwick, RI 02893. A $25.00 written testing fee must be paid by check or money order (payable to the Town of West Warwick) and must accompany the application. Your application package must contain:

-  Town of West Warwick employment application,

-  payment for written test,

-  photocopy of your drivers license and

-  photocopy of your high school diploma or GED.

   One full time position: 4:00PM-12:00AM (Thursdays and Fridays off.) Two part time positions available: (1) 12am to 8am Friday into Saturday and Saturday into Sunday. (2) 4pm to 12am on Saturday and Sunday. Must be available for order ins, overtime and scheduled holidays.

    Completed application packages must be received at the West Warwick Town Hall, 1170 Main Street, West Warwick, RI 02893, on or before 4:00PM Thursday, July 3, 2025.   Incomplete packages will not be considered.
