Smoke Detector/Carbon Monoxide Detector Inspection Procedure

 

Effective immediately all smoke inspections shall be conducted on Wednesday only of each week.  Application and $30.00 inspection fee must be received by the fire department prior to scheduling your inspection.  Applications and compliance information are available below and at the Fire Department located at 1176 Main Street, next door to the Town Hall and Police Department.  You may also email the Fire Department at lworthington@westwarwickri.org for an application or apply online. Application deadline is close of business on the Monday before your desired Wednesday inspection.

Smoke Detector Certifications are valid for 120 days. 

 

NOTE:  You are advised to schedule your inspection to take place at least 2 weeks prior to your closing to allow for any deficiencies to be corrected. 

 

After submitting your application and fee for your timely inspection, Lori, at the Fire Department will call you Tuesday morning (the day prior to your requested Wednesday inspection).  She will give you a one (1) hour window of time within which the Inspector shall arrive for your inspection. 

 

Smoke Detector Certificates will be issued on-site at the time of the inspection for those properties that are deemed to be in compliance.  A re-inspection must be scheduled for any property found to be non-compliant.  An additional fee of $60.00 will be charged for each re-inspection required.
